The new owner of Cabin News in Exmouth had a vision to create a new style of newsagents - one where you can still buy your daily paper and cigarettes but also grab a coffee, buy local beers and purchase a plant!
The brief was to bring the place up to date and to reflect the eco-urban feel the newsagent aims to have once everything is in place.
I liked the name Cabin and agreed that it works well minus the 'news' it used to be tagged to. It is a cosy little space so log cabins came to mind early on in the process. With the 'A' being a natural roof-like shape I played with the slats that would eventually be replicated on the facade of the shop.
There is also something very natural about a log cabin so this also tied in with the general ethos of the business.
Please do pop in if you get the chance - damn fine coffee...
